Who We Are
Inukshuk Geomatics Inc. (Inukshuk) is an Aboriginal-owned company, jointly owned by the Inuvialuit Development Corporation (51%) and Challenger Geomatics Ltd. (49%). Inukshuk has been incorporated since 2000 under the laws of the Northwest Territories. The company is registered:
- On the Inuvialuit Business List,
- With the Business Incentive Policy of the Government of the Northwest Territories, and;
- In the Indigenous Business Directory for Procurement Strategy for Aboriginal Business
Inukshuk received a Permit to Practice Land Surveying from the Association of Canada Lands Surveyors (ACLS) in May of 2001.
Our Services
Inukshuk delivers cost-effective, professional geomatics support services to the Inuvialuit Settlement Region (ISR). We regularly partner with other Inuvialuit businesses and maximize economic participation of Inuvialuit by utilizing Inuvialuit owned accommodations, renting local transportation (boats, snowmobiles, ATVs, trucks) and hiring Inuvialuit whenever possible.
Inukshuk’s capabilities benefit from our partner company Challenger’s experienced professional and technical staff, who operate under a robust Safety Program (COR Certified, registered and in good standing with ISNetworld, ComplyWorks, and Avetta, participants in WCB’s “Partners in Injury Reduction” (PIR) program) and a rigorous ISO 9001 Quality Management System. Our strength and value is rooted in the Inuvialuit and their businesses that are part of our team to provide valued local services and a crucial knowledge of the land.
Notable Clients and Projects
Inukshuk’s projects have included survey and geomatics support for numerous oil and gas exploration programs in the Beaufort Sea and local area, diverse environmental reclamation efforts, and the construction of the Inuvik-Tuktoyaktuk Highway which opened in the fall of 2017.
